SINAIA & the Peles Castle
Sinaia is one of the
most famous and oldest mountain tourist resorts in Romania”. It is best known for being
the summer residence of the Romanian Royal family, the Peles Castle. This is one of the most beautiful castles and most important museums in Romania.
Peles Castle has a 3,200 sqm (34,000 sq ft) floor plan with rooms that have dedicated themes from world cultures. The establishment hosts one of the finest collections of art in Eastern and Central Europe, consisting of statues, paintings, furniture, arms and armor, gold, silver, stained glass, ivory, fine china, tapestries, and rugs.
How to get there:
By car: 50 min drive, on DN1 (to Bucharest)
By train: Departure from main train station Brasov. For time table please check here (select the day then "Search"); Cost: aprox. 5 Euro, one way
*Please bear in mind that there is a half an hour walking distance from Sinaia train station to the Castle.
